Nova Scotia is home to 22 native Herptiles. Herpetofauna or Herptiles (Herps) is a term used to refer to reptiles and amphibians. In Nova Scotia, there are 13 species of amphibians and 9 species of reptiles.
The 13 species of amphibians can be separated into two groups; Anura (frogs and toads) and Caudata (Salamanders and Newts). Reptiles are separated into two groups as well; Turtles and Snakes.
